1. Halle Berry, 50
The Oscar winner moved to New York to begin acting in 1989. She struggled at first, even spending time in a homeless shelter. Her film debut was back in 1991 in Spike Lee’s Jungle Fever. Since then her career choices catapulted her to the top. From the late nineties until mid- 2000s Berry was one of the highest paid actresses in Hollywood.
2. Salma Hayek, 50
Born in Mexico, Hayek began her career acting in telenovelas, moving to LA in 1991, where she worked with famed acting coach Stella Adler. She struggled to learn English, as she suffers from dyslexia. Soon, however, she got her big break staring with Antonio Banderas in Desperado. Hayek is involved in many humanitarian causes in the US and Mexico.
3. Johnny Depp, 53
The Kentucky native, who brought us Captain Jack Sparrow got his start as a twenty-something pretending to be a teenager in 21 Jump Street. He has had a varied and successful career both in front of and behind the camera.
